Default Another water pump question

I was on my way to work and i accelerated hard and fluid came up through the hole where the triple tree goes through. my right shin was soaked in fluid. I am assuming its the water pump because i had a car that the pump went out in it just dumped fluid. i went back to my apartment and apparently it was leaking when i left but i didnt notice. it didnt over heat or anything, i might have got back home in time. So I guess my question is, how do i tell the pump is bad? thanks for any help.

What is the temp. reading on the gauge? Is it over heating?
I would tend to think it is the radiator cap leaking.

It's not the pump, I think.........
Check your cap and the 3 way plastic connector in your hoses under the thermostat......

Ditto.

My 3 way tee had a hairline fracture in it and it only leaked at operating temp. Real easy fix.

oh yeah and the temp didnt seem like the guage moved at all in about 10-15 min from when i started to noticing the leak to getting home. but it definitely was warm cause steam came off the engine.

hehe you came up with a top end gasket set for part #20?

You guys were on the money with that tri way part being the culprit. it was broken where it went underneath the tank. And while i was wrestling to get the hose separated, it broke again. go figure. I was crapping bricks because i did not want to spend a couple hundred on a new pump. 25 on a new part is much better. Thanks for the help guys.

Glad we nailed it. Mine broke in the same spot. My previous owner spray painted my silver so I actually thought it was metal untill I put my hands on it. haha. When I pulled it off one of the other ones broke off too. Your temp probably wasn't coming up because your temp sensor wasn't getting wet! lol.

Glad to help!

I've had this happen to me on the side of a highway. When you run low enough on coolant, your temp gauge should spike when you get on the gas, and come back down as you slow down.

Side note: Walmart sells a stuff called Liquid Steel (or something "steel" in a plastic tube). Works great when your in their parking lot to seal the 3 way tee to the coolant pipes
