Alternator Dampner Gone Bye Bye
Hi All,
Bike wont start, starter kicks over, just not turning the engine over, compression test, no compression
Battery - brand new
Spark - Tested all 4 and O.K.
Fuel - Getting through
Valves - all within spec
Jump starts and runs perfect, is my conclusion correct?

If you mean you jumped it successfully with another battery and the starter worked, then it's not the damper
If you could push start it and it ran, then it probably is the damper
Not the end of the world to fit a new one, or rebuild your old one.

How the hell do you get the alternator bolts off.
Some *****, when they assembled it must of used liquid steel as a fastner.
F##ck Me.
I thought this would be a couple of hours work
any ideas

Just an update
Got it all apart and it looks like my damper imploded on itself, there were chunks of fibrous material all over the place.
Mine only had 9 plates, only three were fibre.
going to but a new one $210.00AU.
I do not think it is worth trying to re build or replace with a second hand one.
It was quite an easy job though except for the alternator bolts

Update #2
No stock in the country, placed on back order arrival date 03.06.2010
So my question is, with alternator removed and the alternator chain hanging by a wire, can i move my bike or is is stuck in the middle of the garage for the next two weeks
