I have a brand new one (DID) in its box if you need it. Let me know, I can post it to you.

The Tensioner may not have been bad, but there's no real way to test it and if I put the bike back together and it rattled I would have/may still start crying. I didnt even drop anything in the motor!!!!!!!

And finally a heads up if anyone is planning the same job. These locator pins are on the back side (intake side) of the motor and I almost lost one when I removed the head and swung it around triumphantly...

Some progress since I last checked in. The biggest issue has been getting my hands on all the parts. I have been thrilled with Cheap Cycle parts. Their website is a little slow but the prices are great and the OEM parts diagrams are very helpful. I even got Shadow to send me a Cam Chain all the way from South Africa.

I got really tired of leaning over the motor on the ground so I built a stand.

I took Tugs 95 motor apart and found the problem. The front cam chain guide had broken. This pic is the broken one and a good one. Name: 100_4559.jpg

Once the head is off its super easy to just pull the jug and check the rings. So i did that and decided to put the 95 top end on my 87 bottom. Tug had said that the 95 might have had a bad alternator chain as well. I verified part numbers and it SHOULD go back together fine. I Cleaned up the pistons and reseated the Jugs.
