Yes Johnno, Dylan's right! These old girls really haul **** right up to redline. There's such good power down low though that you don't really have to use it if you don't feel inclined...I just like to. I regularly overtake dawdlers in 6th, just roll on the gas and cruise past. If I'm in a hurry to get passed though I knock it down to third and nail it. Ah, simple pleasures

At 110kph you have a choice of 5 gears to be in!

All I meant was that it wouldn't do any damage, johnno.
But yeah... I've beaten the guts out of this poor old girl plenty of times. (oops, theres the redline.... oops, there it is again....)
She goes just fine, but give yourself plenty of breathing room because she's not as agile as some.

You guys have obviously overlooked the handy casting that Honda installed in behind the gear shifter on the LHS.

All you need to do is bend down at an extreme angle, line your eye up correctly with the centre of the gear shifter pinch split and by looking through you can see what gear you're in by the numbers cast into the side of the gearbox.

I don't know if this works at anything above 0 mph, but I can see no other good reason for it being there. If anyone has tried this in 6th perhaps they can tell us if it works correctly and how to recalibrate it if it doesn't?

It's a great help - only problem I had was I kept bashing my helmet on the ground, so after a couple of goes I just decided to kick the gearship and if it moved I knew I wasn't in 6th. Trying to look at it upside down was a bit of a challenge at speed, and
it didn't do much for my neck either, but, well, if you want to do it right sometimes you have to make concessions.
