Default 5th Gear or 6th

Inmates,

Quick story..... friday leave work ride 320km to visit family holidaying on the murray river, great ride, nice weather great music.
Arrive, spend few days have a few beers see in new years eve, time to return to work.

Ride home, cruising along come up to 6 cars in my way still listening to great music, change down to 5th, pass all those bloody cars and one caravan, carry on my merry way.

About an hour later look down tacho seems a bit high, FLASH through my head did i change up to 6th.
Clutch in click up 6th gear engages.

I have just ridden for an hour doing 110 KPH in 5th.

I just smile and think bloody awesome bike

That made me laugh Johnno. I do the same sometimes in my AU falcon. Stupid shifter on the auto jumps back into third and out of overdrive when I hit a bump. Stupid me doesn't always realise because of the distraction of the music. So I know where you're coming from. Did it happen on that boring stretch between Shepparton and the Hume Hwy? I hate that part.

Geez Johnno at 110KPH you shouldn't even be in 6th hehe
But yes, I've done it many a time, not for that distance, but.....
I once commented that I'd like a gear indicater like they had on the old GSX1100. And no, the new digital ones don't fit. If it did I'd have one for sure. Pulling away in second, isn't much fun either. My gearbox sometimes sticks, then it's embarrassing

Actually, on my '94, when in 6th, the tach and spedo are in the same clock position. From time to time I look down and if the tach is leading the spedo, I'm in 5th.

Still sleeping! eh Trout

I have only on a few occasions opened her up on some back roads near home, i had to hang on for dear life.
And i am only talking 9000RPM, heaven help me I red lined her. But i just might try for the fun of it.

I'm gettin one Shadow when the spare money becomes available. An Acumen with the speedo upgrade kit for 115 pounds out of the UK posted to my door. I'm saving $100 AUD than if I bought it here. I'm gettin one off these guys when I get the cash. To many other things using my money up atm.....
