What a bummer! That's thankfully not a common story. I know I'm safe in saying commiserations from all of us on that one.
Before you pull the alternator out to change the starter clutch, take out the starter motor and check it first. Get a couple of jump leads and try connecting it across the battery. You never know, the bark may have been worse than the bite so to speak.
Even if you have to change or repair it it's going to be a lot easier than doing the starter clutch. You'll be able to feel if the starter clutch is working by putting your finger through the hole where the starter motor goes into the engine. It should not be possible to turn the cog in one direction but have free movement in the other direction. The jam up may have just been a fluke caused by accidentally pressing the starter button and revving the engine at the same time.
Good luck with that.

I was just looking at that.....so the alternator damper is what I would need to replace.....it starts fine I just dont want to mess up another starter. Im 100% sure the start button was pressed when reving out. Whats the chances I just fried starter and nothing else. Im.sure starter is.fried I pulled it and tested the took apart and.insides was broken.all up.
