Just got a 1990 CBF 1000F
Hi All,
I'm a new member of the forum because I just picked up a 1990. I picked it up from the original owner, but the bike has been sitting for a year and it's up to me to get it back on the road.
I'll track my progress on this thread.
So far, I have the following list:
1. Rebuild carbs- DONE
2. Drain/clean fuel tank- DONE
3. Adjust valves- DONE
4. Change oil- DONE
5. Fix clutch master cyl- DONE
6. Flush brakes, inspect pads- color="#ff0000"]DONE[/color]
7. Check valves- DONE
8. Flush coolant- DONE
9. Address some minor corrosion on the fork legs. DONE
10. Change fork oil. DONE
I guess I have some work cut out for me!

RE: Just got a 1990 CBF 1000F
I've already scoured this forum...LOTS of great information. I found the shop manual as well as the valve adjustment tutorial--good stuff.
My primary bike is a ZRX 1100 that I've basically modded out. I also had a '83 Honda Nighthawk that was my 1st street bike and although it was a rat bike it somehow still ran.
I've always liked the looks of the Hurricane's and VFR's with the red-white-blue look to them.
Also I really don't like the way newer sportbikes fit me. I was thinking about buying my friends Fireblade, but it was a little cramped for me. The 'cane will fit the bill of a nice sports tourer, (if I can get it running).

I guess it's this particular bike. To make it really nice I would need to replace some parts, but I don't see good parts availability for this model and some cosmetic stuff would have to be done in addition to the mechanical. If I would have gotten to it 6 mos ago it would be different. I think it would be better used as a spare parts for you guys.
