Last time I did the job, I bent the end of an empty .223 shell into the shape of a
"D". Once I got the screws out, I slotted the ends with a dremel. lol..

I just picked up an 88/1000f, I have major engine work to do before I get in to the carbs but am I going to need this too to work on the 88 carbs? If so I'll order one now while I'm thinking about it. Thanks

What year carbs use the D-shaped screws? I have a 1990, similar to the 89-92's, that uses a common-head screw as the pilot (mixture) screw. The pilot screws on carb's 1 and 4 face out and are simple to adjust. You have to get to carb 2 from the carb 4 side, and carb 3 from carb 1 side.

That means you need a foot-long (0.3 meter), thin, flexible, common-head screwdriver to reach pilot screws on carbs 2 and 3. Oh, did I mention you need patience, and nomex gloves so you don't burn your hands. Plus, you can't see the damn screws. Otherwise, it's a piece of cake.
