Hi all. I’ve got an 1987 CBR1000f engine I’m using for a drag kart build. I need an exhaust system but the normal full system isn’t much use. Regarding just the headers and ignoring any mount placement, will later model headers fit? Even if I have to separate the headers, that’s fine, so is there’s any difference in the manifold clamps or the size of the pipe that goes into the engine? Any advice would be greatly appreciate.

Welcome - but why such a heavy underpowered engine? You could have gone with a mid-90's fireblade engine and saved 100lb and gained 30hp?

 

Largely because it was £160 with the carbs lol It’s plenty to get started but will have an eye out for a more powerful unit in the future. Would love to end up with something like a Hyabusa engine but that’s a way off. The frame design, drive train and steering are more important to get dialed in before throwing more power at it. Get it all straightened and stable at around 100mph+, then it’ll be time to look at power.
