Default 94 CBR900 rr wiring dilemma

HELLO ALL! im new to the site and have a question. I have a wiring harness that i bought in a parts bundle for a 94 900rr that im building. now....on the cdi unit, it looks like the previous owner spliced into the harness and added another box with a series of small switches. its probably some sort of timing mod, but i dont know! ive never seen it before and there is no visable name brand on the unit, its just a box with switches?! now the previous owner of the bike did have it on the track. please help

Sounds like it might be a quick shift delay box. Pics would help out a great deal.

When you say the box has "switches", do you mean toggle levers, like to turn electricity flow on-and-off?

If it were a street-only bike, I'd think maybe they were on/off controls for add-on crap like neon light kits and radiator fans, etc.

Are these switches the kind that slide?

Those type switches would be to set some kind of security code for whatever device they were controlling. Like maybe a garage door opener for example. But on a race bike, I dunno.

If you dont know what it is, get yourself a wiring diagram and put everything back to stock. Dont bother trying to fix something you have no use for. Take as many pictures of the device installed, remove it, if there is any problems do to removing it, put it back and worry about it then.

i have a wiring diagram and that was the next thing i was thinking about doing. i was just baffled cause ive been building bikes for about 10years, from cb450 black bombers to gsx-r 750's ect. and outta all the bikes ive breathed life back into, ive never seen 1 of these. the closest thing i can think it might be is some sort of cdi power box used for remapping. like i said it looks like the thing is wired right into the the cdi then looks like it goes to the pulse generator...maybe its used to change timing?? idk...i might just slap it together and see what it does, but if it does nothing but give me heart ache, then its gone for good. thank you all for your input, i honestly do appreciate it
