Why Is Speedometer Cover Melting?

RE: Why Is Speedometer Cover Melting?
Yes, of course...it's your windscreen, lol! I have a Sportech DB V-Flow Black Chrome transparent windscreen. Well, when it came in the mail...my *** was so excited to put in on my bike that I just ripped it out of the package, not looking at any paperwork, or the warning sticker that's on the back, lol. I don't know how Memphis, etc. is, but mine came with a sticker mesh that was on the back, the "chrome", part of the windscreen. Right away I thought that it looked like **** on there, I was like," Hmm, why in the hell would a $100 windscreen come with mesh tape...blah, blah, blah...", well...AFTER I installed it, I was picking up all of the trash, from some other parts as well that I received that day, and low and behole, plain as day, right on the Sportech packaging...WARNING: "Do not remove this protective backing, may melt speedometer or other parts on your bike..." I had no idea, lmao...my speedo is melted just a little tad bit, nothing major, hell you can hardly notice it...but it melted it...I'm looking to get a fully digital speedo to replace it, and some black mesh tape to put on the back of my windscreen! lol

I'm ordering a new dash cover from Honda. I havea friend that can get it for about $40. I'll start painting soon or adding that sticker on the back. I called several local motorcycle shops and not one had heard about this problem with double bubble screens until I told them. As a matter of fact, I called one shop who didn't believe me and opened up a Zero Gravity DB and there was the small sticker that explained how dashes can melt on "rare occasions." I have come to find out that it isn't so rare after all. I'll be passing the word to other fellow riders about these DB screens.
