Default tail swap?

i have an 07 cbr, and the only thing i dont like about it is the face that the rear tail light is not integrated into the tail. I know hotbodies is due to release a motogp style undertail that has all the lights in it, but i dont want that. I want to know if anyone thinks or knows of the possibility of putting an aftermarket 06 tail on an 07. I have been trying to find an 06 to put next to my bike so i can size it up but with no avail. I think that it may be a possibility, but im not sure. the only thing that has me slightly skeptical is the fact that the tail section on the 07 is not part of the alum frame, but rather some fiberglass/plastic composite bs (i really dont know what its made out of, but its not metal) and i am not sure if i want to be drilling holes in it that would risk structurally compromising it. I would appreciate it if anyone has any info on this, cause my light rig right now sucks and its making me nuts. thanks all.

Oh noes! Its not metal! Run away, a sportbike with a composite tail!

All the same, it looks awful close, but you'd have to get a good look at the mounting points for the 2006 and size it up, I highly doubt they'll be the same with a new composite tail. From what I've seen though, teh mount holes are not teh same.

I know that many of them have composite tails, i just didnt want to go drilling holes in it and then have it snap when my girl gets on the back, that would be bad. You are right they do LOOK really close, but im not exactily sure how close. Thanks for the input.

Yeah, it seems the 2006 mount holes are more vertical, and the 2007 follows the angle of the frame, if that makes any sense. But what do I know.

You can put an 06 light in and 07 tail. I did one the other day, just play with it. It works fine

an 06 rear tail light will fit in an 07 tail is what you are saying, any cutting necessary or does it just go right in. also, i have the rs5 on it and the clearance between the tail and the pipe is not much, what do you think?

It will fit in, but you have to cut a few things. Its easy though. But no, no matter what you do, there isnt as much room as on the 06, but it is still visable from behind.
