Idont know if you all have found this out or not but their is a free accell pump download at powercommander.com for the power commander 3 usb it allows an extra shot of fuel to be added any
time through out the rpm range just go to the web site to read up on it .it helped my bike accell out of curves and it wants to power up in 2 gear. I thank it helped , and its free.

So is the power commander a worthwhile purchase? I was thinking about getting my girlfriend one for her upcoming birthday. She has an 02 f4i with a jardine slip on. There are alot of nay sayers when it comes to the power commanders, but i gotta believe there are some maps that are good for a boost in mid range power for this bike. Maybe the bike needs a few more tweaks along with the power commander? I see a couple of you guys have them so i was hoping for some input.
well i played around with the maps and it does have a noticeable effect on the power i can feel it pulls harder in mid range all the way to red line i think it is a good envestment also works great on nos and turbo projects because you can create custom maps to optmise performance.

Doesnt the power commander only have a noticeable effect if theres a full exhaust put on?

the pc will help even a bone stock have a noticable dyno measurable affect. but it really doesnt matter if it is stock, slip on or full system, if you dont have it custom tuned it does little to no good.
a custom tuned pc showed a 10hp gain on my 1000. that is noticable.
also on the accell pump thing. the jury is still out. i have read a lot of info saying that it isnt a good idea. the guy that custom tuned my bike said not to use it because a good tuned engine with a pc3 will add fuel where it needs it. that the bike wont spike lean like on a carb because the pc adds fuel based on throttle position and rpm
for example, if you are cruising at 30% throttle you arent using a lot of fuel but if you all of a sudden crank it to to WOT, the cell maps of the pc3 will register the rpm and throttle increase and go to the correct cell and add fuel according to the map says is optimum for that rpm range and throttle posistion range.
now the bike must be tuned on a load control dyno like a dynojet 250 where they can hold the bike at specific throttle positions and rpms. the dynos that can only do full throttle sweeping runs arent as acurrate and these tunes may benefit from the acell pump because probably the map was optimized for higher end rpms and throttle positions.
from personel experience my 1000rr tuned on a dynojet 250 bogs like crazy out of a corner with the pump on.
with the pump off it will smoke the tire
just so you know you dont have to tune a bike to get results from a PC thats why it has low mid and high settings you just get slightly better results from tuneing it. and as far as a pc for the girlfriend do you think she needs more power honestly? some girls can handle bikes great but is she really going to enjoy the 2hp she gains from your 300 bucks? maybe a nice leather jacket would be better?
