Default PCIII Needed or not???

I just ordered a Hot Bodies undertail kit with a new can for my 04 cbr600rr and was wondering if I need to put a PCIII on it? What will it improve if I do?

The search function will come in handy if you don't get a definitive answer here. Is there a reason why you think you NEED a PCIII? Is the bike popping or have flat spots in the power curve?

"Need" not necessarily. "Good" to have Yes. The PCIII will help smooth out your power curve and help with your throttle response a great deal. Not to mention withthe PCIII,you'll maximize your power gains from the slip-on(right now you're probablylooking at very minimal gains in your top-end pull). Fish listed the common symptoms of adding just a slip-on above and he is correct. See if you notice those things and if so go ahead and add it. After installing mine and noticing the difference, I told myself I would never install a Slip-on or Full System without one ever again. If performance is what you're trying to get on a budget then definately get the PCIII.

I didnt really notice any serious power gains with mine but definitely made the throttle response better and smoothed out the power...worth the money any day...not neccessarily a need though.Although they are a chore to install if you have never done that kind of thing before...had a hell of a time with mine.

PCIII is only good with a custom tune... installing it will not do anything for you

I havn't got the kit yet (in the mail) so I don't know any symptoms. I have just heard that it is bad to run a aftermarket pipe without a PCIII. I probably am going to get the PCIII and have it dyno'd and tuned at a local shop. I am not so much in for performance with this kit but more for the clean tail look. I just don't want to damage any of the engine by not getting a PCIII.

you will not damage anything buy not having the PCIII slip or full..

slip on - no need

full system - pointless not to because you are not getting any gains anywhere without a tune

I now have the PCIII and the HB undertail exhaust kit (Slip on), but now does anyone know of a PCIII map for this kit or one that will be close? And also, is there any company that makes good performance header to go to the slip-on, I really like the look of the undertail kit, but know a full exhaust would have been better for performance.
