Default RE: Lowering link

I had mine lowered 1" right off the bat b/c I'm 5'7" and could barely tip-toe. The handling is amazing, I notice no difference in the stock CBR which my friend has and my '06. Of course I've never ridden a stock '06, but I couldn't be happier with the performance of my bike! There is an option on most lowering links to lower the bike either 1" or 3"...personally i'm still not flat footed when i stop, but won't even think about lowering it the full 3" b/c 1. I'm not drag racing 2. The lower plastics will more than likely drag around sharp turns and 3. The bike will have a much greater chance of bottoming out. If you've ever ridden before, 1" lower should do you fine!! However, if you have no height issues I see no reason to ever lower it unless you are drag racing. Good luck with your decision and if you decide to go w/it...lemme know what you think!

WellSY,

What did you use to lower your bike? Did you install it yourself?

My dad did it. He used a bike jack from Harbor Freight. I believe the lowering link was a brand called Vortec. It didn't come with any instructions which was rediculous but he called when he had my bike apart and they stepped him through it. Hope that helps!

I LOWERED MINE THE FULL 3' AND I LOVE IT. I HAVE NOT HAD IT BOTTOM OUT OR DRAG THE LOWER PLASTICS IN A CORNER. IT RIDES NICE. EVERYONE SAYS IT WILL NOT HANDLE AS GOOD AS IT DOES STOCK BUT I HAVE NOT NOTICED ANYTHING. JUST LIKE WELLSY SAID IT HANDLES AMAZING.

just watchout from putholes and bumps

I am under 5'7 and having booth feet flat on the ground feels more comfortable and safe than not having

Definatly only go down 1. #is too much and the kick stand doesn't really help anymore. I'm 5" 5' on a good day and I dropped my 05 cbr600rr 1 and it made a world of difference.

Even if you only lower the bike "1...I suggest cutting the kickstand down. Thats what I did, prevents the bike from tipping and returns it to the stock degree angle or however you wanna say it.
