Anyone running -1, +3 520 conv.
I cant decide whether to go with -1,+2 or -1, +3 when i do my 520 conv. in the next few weeks. just seeing if anyone can lend some advice. I've started to loss my need for high speed, so I'm not really worried about topping out at 140ish or anything. I'm just looking for something really fun to ride on the street, private parking lot, and sometimes the highway. My plan was to get:
Vortex front sprocket
Vortex cat5 rear sprocket
RK 520 XSO gold chain

Ive had -1,+4 to start with, -1,+2, -1+3, and -1+4, all 520, on my 03 RR. You definately notice a change in all of them. As far as wheelies go its way easier to huck em up, but hate is right, you will lose some mpg, but not much. I run with quite a few stock bikes at times and its really nothing to worry about. As long as your not trying to push your bike 160 miles per fill up you should be fine. It just takes more planning is all and at times being a bit more conservative with your right wrist if you know your going to be cutting it close, but no more than regular. If your revving it high, your revving it high no matter what your gears are, its just a more common thing when your geared up. Cruising the i-state at 90 indicated (closer to 85) puts me around 8,000 rpm with -1,+4 just to give you an idea.
good luck, i think youll be happy with whatever

Watch getting too small on the front....could eventually cause chain binding. One word of advice: if you're planning on changing your setup and don't plan on racing, seriously consider sticking with a 525 chain. The additional weight loss isn't really worth the amount of stretching you'll get out of that chain if you're just street riding/doing wheelies. Just my 2 cents.
