Default Removing steel mesh screen from stock air filter?

After Removing mesh screen out of stock filter does it require a tune?

nope, still factory performance.

Athough any stock bike would always benefit from dyno-tuning as factory config is done for durability and reliability.

I did the intake flap mod, removed the two thin metal mesh screens and left tge one thicker metal screen with small holes in it. It does breath noticeably alot better. Bike seems to like it. Just wanted to make sure its not going to make it run lean. I wonder If I remove all screens on airfilter will the paper filter start to fall apart and get sucked into velocity stacks?

Yup, will eventually fall to pieces.

Easier to just get free-flow filtre like BMC. Avoid K&N, lets through too much dirt.

I have a brand new bmc "race" filter I can throw in. Engine builder/ tuner guy said bmc let's in dirt too. He sees it in the motors he opens up. Last bike he tuned for me he put in aftermarket filter he is selling..I'm not sure if he is just pushing to sell those kind of filters that he has. He is reputable, one of the best builders and a good guy. I normally use bmc but never opened motors up after using them to see any issues. Personally i dont think it would hurt to use the bmc.

BMC may let through some stuff, but nowhere close to amount K&N does. Those have outright holes in filtre that does nothing!

Good to know. Thanks for the info.
Can I use a 08 cbr1000rr ecu in my 2016 cbr1000rr? I have an extra ecu from a 08 1k I use to have. I can't find any info to know whether they are compatible.
