yeah, some worse than other. My F4i has a highmount side exhaust, and is actually worse than my 1000's undertail. Riding my F4i I smell of exhaust so bad sometimes it'll actually water my eyes some. Wife has me leave my riding gear in garage. My 1000 is SOOOO much better. I'm sure I still stink of exhaust, but I'm so used to being crazy bad like the F4i that I dont think I notice.

now, I havent tried anything on 1000, cause well, it dont stink enought to bother me. But my F4i, I put a tip on end of can. Slightly lengthens exhaust, looks somwhat silly, but that little bit was enough to push exhaust past the air plow that wraps around you. Dunno what your 1000 tip looks like, but if smell is as bad as you say, then I can relate cause f4i bugged **** outta me. Try putting some sort of tip on end. I used an exhaust tip from Kragen. Like I said, looks a little 'off' but smell was completely gone. Maybe you can find a better way to get that exhaust to exit farther back from bike

 

they guy i got my bike from had that problem, he put a power commander with a map from somebody off the internet and it fixed it, i can ride for a week before i even get a hint of exhaust smell on my jacket, also my pipe has a small turndown on the end which probably helps
