Leave this shop. They're idiots. The law says that a manufacturer may NOT void a warranty because a customer installed and aftermarket part UNLESS that part is the root cause of a failure that the customer wants addressed as a warranty repair.

The law states basically, an after market part will not void a warentee, but the installation will, If you installa pipe it won't void the warentee but if they find that you did something wrong during the install process that messed with a sensor that ended up blowing the motor than Your "Install" voided the warentee.

I know for cars it is actually illegal for a dealer to say " aftermarket parts will void your warentee"they would have to prove that during the installation process something was done to cause a failure. They can say "INSTALLING aftermarket parts can cause a void in waretnee"

EXAMPLE: I have a remote starter installed in a car. and the starter blows up. Thedealer would have to prove that something was done incorrectly to cause the failure. they can't just say the Remote starter cause it.

Sum it up the act of installing voids warentees If proven to be done wrong.

The part itself will not void the warentee.

A Pipe itselfwill not blow an engine.
You messing around with sensors that change fuel ratios ect, and blow an engine now the warentee is voided.

The aftermarket part didn't do it, the person who installed it, voided the warentee.

If you go to a circuit city to get a radio installed Circuit City has a warentee on their "install" so if they break something and the dealer doesn'tcover it under warentee they cover it through circuit city.

If you install it yourself and decide to plug your radio into the window switch and blow your window motor, Your install of the aftermarket radio voided the warentee on the window motor.

If you wired the radio correctly and the window motor blew you have not voided any warentee because you installed an aftermarket radio. They arn't related and your "install" didn't cause the issue.
