Default Air Filter : Orginal vs K&N

Hi,

It's time to change the air filter of my 1kRR '05 but i'm not sure what is the best option.... by Original one again or by a K&N?

what should be the best option? what are the pros and cons?

the only mod I have done was installing a Arrow split-on.

thanks!

I went down the K&N route, there discussions goin on both sides of the arguement. Bottom line is its reuseable thats why i got mine.

For the Record it made 152HP at the wheel when dyno`ed.

Rumor control sez you lose HP with K&N. Supposedly BMC race or street filters is the way to go depending on what level of filtering you want but might require remapping of PC (if you have one). Seems pricey no matter what you do $117+ BMC/$95+ K&N but both are reusable.

ok, other than the BMC race filter only having 2 layers and the street having 4 whats the diff, what would be the problem with the race filter on the road. I dont know what the diff in the air would be from track to street.

As you know the Race has 2 layer will have less restriction in air flow. More air = more fuel = more power. However at the time of purchase. The street filters were out of stock. Only had the Race version. So I thought sod it! fit em to the bike! cost me US$75 including fitting.

Race filters are designs to allow more air as said, which normally = more power. But........ There aint no crap on the track that you get on the road, so use a race filter on the road and all that sh*t goes in your engine.

+ if you ask Most racers don`t use an air filter on there bikes.
