Default 520 conversion or Not?

I am wanting to up the gearing on my 06 CBR1000RR and am trying to decide if it is worth it to me to spend the extra money to to the 520 conversion. Is the 520 conversion really worth it to the average street rider?? Its either $70-80 bones for a good rear sprocket or $220+ for a good 520 set.

I have read through the threads a bit and it sounds like going up 2 on the rear should be good. Just trying to improve starts and launches, and maybe gain a little acceleration. Stock is 42 so maybe an AFAM 44? Will the stock chain be ok with +2 on the rear??? I could go down -1 on the front for less money but I worry about what I have read about the fronts not being dampened. Is this really an issue? Plus, if I do the back, I can get ride of the ugly stock steel.

If someone convinces me that the 520 is worth it, what brand and model chain? Good source to buy? Remember, I am street riding. Maybe in the future some track days, but nothing too serious.

Thanks
Roach

You're not going to be able to reuse the stock chain either way with the 520 kit

I would just go down 1 on the front. Its what 30 bucks? I got a driven -1 front from brad @ superbike supply and couldnt be happier with it. The stock chain works great and the vibration is a non issue. I noticed a slight buzz for the first day, but then I just got used to it. It really isn't very noticable. You'll have to change your sprockest and chain in a while anyway, and your not a racer, so why spend the $$ now? Use the stock stuff up and them replace it with the good stuff later, maybe when you will be able to appreciate it. At least that was my thought process a month ago when I had this very same delima.
