Default 520 Conversion

Somebody have updated info about doing a 520 conversion on a stock 04 1000rr. I waited long enough and want some input on teeth ratio, speedo healer and so forth. SOMEONE HELP ME, I WANT TO BUY SOMETHING NEW FOR MY BIKE.

i would go for the did erv3 520 conversion with 42t rear afam sprocket.. that will give the same gearing as the 06 or if you go 43t rear it will give you 1 up over 06 stock gearing. bike will accellerate much better with no real loss of top end unless you were pulling the rev limiter already with stock gears..

I ran the -1/+1 for a year. Gives you tremendous acceleration over stock. You'll definitely want to invest in a speedo healer to avoid racking up extra miles. There's a write up on the install in '1000 modifications'. One word of caution -- you'll want to keep an eye on chain stretch. Mine was an RK 520 and it didn't stretch badly but it did stretch more than the stock 530.

Deezuhl are you running 2+ on the rear sprocket? that doesnt mess with your top end or is it because you have the ECU allowing some more RPM's?

yeah i am +2 in the rear. it does lose top end but i pull 800 more rpm over stock it makes up for it. also, at my weight of 225lbs it wouldnt pull the rev limiter anyway w/o the +2 unless i stayed in it forever. we run 1 mile races here so the idea is to be on the rev limiter right at 1 mile..

deezuhl -- if you're +2 on the rear then you'll never see 190mph on a 1kRR. On the big zooks I know how to bypass the rev limiter but not on the hondas. Factory gearing at redline only yields 186mph [:'(] 190mph in the 9/10ths = NOS or forced air and 0/-1 gearing.

ive already bypassed the limiter on my RR with the HRC ecu.. with +2 it will go about 191mph.. i have already clicked off 186@13k rpm. I got a few hundred RPM more to go still once i do the head..

the guy who tunes my bike is much lighter than me and he has already pulled 185 with stock gearing in 9/10ths. With springs, cams and 13.1 compression i am confident it will pull 190mph with +2 gearing.. I just gotta crank up the RPM some..
