problem... need help!!!
I was riding my bike today and it was running fine, i was cruising along at 65mph ish and all the sudden it was like i was running out of gas, and my speedo went out but i just filled up the tank. it will run it 1st and 2nd, but it runs kind of rough, and it will start out in third but after about 5000 rpm it will kinda die out again like it is loosing gas and it will sputter really bad... i have no clue what would cause this got any suggestions?

Battery, bad gas, jumped timing. All could cause what you describe. As well as the side stand switch -- but usually if it's the ss switch you'll notice it happening on bumpy rides then it'll get worse and go out everywhere.
I suggest starting by checking the electrical system. Make sure when it's off the battery is putting out at least 12 volts. When it's idling you should be getting 13ish volts and if you rev it up to 5k it ought to peak around 14volts.

I know this was a long time ago but did the author or anyone else ever figure this out my 95 f3 is doing the same thing. I vaguely remember somethinf about a speed sensor and if your speedo wasn't working then the air fuel would be off but I can't find it now thanks in advance for any help

You are absolutely right. When the speedo reaches approx. 12MPH it keeps a slow speed solenoid open that's hooked to your carbs and airbox. It'll run like crap around 4-5k when the solenoid is not functioning properly. And and throttle will make it bog out real bad. Find out why the gauges are not working correctly. Maybe something as simple as a plug came loose on the back side. Once you get them working right, this should fix the solenoid problem and you should be back up and running. Let us know what happens.
