Testing AC voltage of alternator?
#22
Yes, combined with DRL's and the alternator is barely making enough power at idle to keep everything running and charge at the same time. When the fan is on, the charging voltage drops to 12.3V, so it's running at a slight loss in heavy traffic with the fan on. That's when I plan to use the headlight switch I installed until traffic opens back up.

I have been testing VAC output just a few days ago because I was riding to work short distances and apparantly the battery ran out... I did more than usual tests.... I charged the battery full and it showed 14.6v charging with the lights on.. however... I cannot understand how the VAC section works in this bike because, while measuring AC between the yellows, I got no more than 12vAC on each pair, revved a lot and it didn't help.
The charging is there no problems with either alternator or regulator, all tests passed, everything is functioning but the AC output is low, not like on the bike with permanent magnet field that can show even 80v/90vAC...
so... I wouldn't take the vAC output on this bike as something determining for the properly functioning charging...
