Thanks for that. Next time I am under the petrol tank I will check the needle washer size and fit an extra washer. Easy to reverse if it doesn't suit this exhaust system. I haven't checked the pilot setting yet. The procedure described in the manual seems quite complicated. How critical is it on the CBR1000F?

I'm busy doing more fairing repairs. When I was out on the bike on Friday night the headlight beam was suddenly pointing very low. The headlight unit had broken off inside the fairing. Fortunately there is no way it can fall right out. Unfortunately there is is a lot of dismantling to get at it for repair. I have had a go at repairing the plastic bosses that the unit is attached to. If that doesn't work I will look at making some brackets to mount the light unit on the tubular top fairing support rather than having it on the fairing plastic. Never a dull moment.

glad to see your getting on ed, your right it does take a fair bit of dismantling for the headlight even for a bulb change, keep up the good work

Now would be a good time to upgrade to a HID bulb and ballast while you have it apart.

I converted my woeful standard lights on my Ducati by fitting two Hella 90 mm units. I have put an HID lamp in the unit that provides the main beam. the CBR1000F-H has a single lamp so the HID lamp would have to provide both main and dip beams.
I bought a "dipping" HID lamp some time ago to fit to my Vincent. It provides a dipped beam by having a little solenoid to move the lamp backwards and forwards to change the point of focus. I never got around to fitting it on the Vincent so maybe I could try it on the CBR.

Just hope the solenoid operated hid is long lasting as you do not want to have to change it again for a while
