2000 cbrf4 which to maintain 1st if not all
i have a 2000 cbr 600f4 w/35000 miles no real problems but i guess i should start maintaining changed oil and plugs on regular basis
but seems i have to change plugs once a yr if not twice a yr
question: they say to check and adjust valves is it necessary heard different results
question: cleaning carbs should i rip apart and clean or use that seafoam everyone talks about
im going to change all fluids but want to no what extent of other maintenance to do ,starts up difficult in spring but when i change
plugs runs good but have to do this every year cause in the fall when it gets cold it seems to flood so ill stop riding until spring
when ichange plugs. past summer it seemed to bog down in 2/3 gear and i had to wait about 5 min before i could get it started again
thanks for any input or threads i can go to to do this work

If your valves are not making noise, they are probably ok. They should be checked after 16,000 or so, but that doesnt mean they have to be adjusted. I've seen many bikes go over 50,000 without the need for adjustment.
If you havent been doing regular oil changes, then yes, you should start. You shouldnt have to replace your spark plugs every year though. Unless like you stated, you foul them out. Being that it is cold, you may just be doing the wrong starting procedure. Also, a weak battery will cause the bike to flood in cooler weather. the engine doesnt spin over fast enough for the engine to start and the plugs get fouled with gas. Make sure you have a good fully charged battery before attempting a cold start.
As for cleaning the carbs. If it hasnt been done yet, you may need to tear them apart and clean them. It all depends on how the bike has been winterized. If you havent drained the gas from carbs and or used a good fuel stabilizer for storage, then tearing them apart may be a good idea. I would only tear into the carbs as far as removing the float bowls and cleaning the jets. There really isnt a need to tear into them farther than that. Also, a carb sync may be in order, but if your idle is good, you probably dont need one.
As for the bog down, it could have been anything from water in the gas to an electrical issue. Without knowing more about the bike and how it was reacting, its going to be hard to diagnosis that one.

the valves dont usually get looser, they get tighter. You dont hear them and the bike starts running like crap because it has low compression. Check your valve clearances as specified and adjust if needed.
thanks for the input!! i always change the oil twice a year. there is a clicking when the motor is running a real light one but
noticeable. what would be the correct start up procedure? and my battery is 4 yrs old i put on a trickle charger every year
how often should i replace. thanks again for the quick response this site is awesome
