cruising and shifting rpm's
i have a dumb question it will sound dumb to experienced riders but whats a good in town shift point as well as cruising rpm for decent gas milage because i just bought my bike a week ago and im used to driving sport compacts and ive ran a tank of as thru it every day so far haha
Don't lug the engine. Ride in the highest gear without lugging the engine. Accelerate very slowly. I get high 40s, sometimes 50+. But beat on it and you can drop into the mid 30s.
see when im crusing its about 4.5k and it seems like im lugging it just because its got 10k left in it. just seems a little low but i trust you guys because for me it seems 4.5-5k seems good because around 7-8k is when the power kicks in and the beast comes out. i kinda wish they had a vtec system on the 2wheel side of honda it would be kinda sweet

I shift anywhere from 5-8k's depends on your riding style.

Mine is averaging around 45mpg with some playing in between.

If I'm just cruising around, I try and stay in highest gear possible without dropping below 3.5K, below 3.5K to me feels like it starts working harder and becoming less efficient. Everyone's bike may be a bit different, so after a few months or so, you'll start forming your own habits and riding patterns.
