Default Idle cruising and shifting speed

Big newbie question here. Im more comfortable with car shift points, how fast and rpm to you people recommend for just cruising and stuff????

When commuting to work I usually shift 6500 - 7500 rpm. but the bike can handle a lot more... don't be afraid to shift at redline when you want.

Shift where it's comfortable, keep the engine speeds up to where you have moderate power in case you need to boogie out of trouble.
