Default Question bout tire balance?

Yesterday I had a friend change out my front and rear tires. He balanced the tires with the stick on type weights. I was riding today at a high rate of speed and the bike began to shake which made me nervous. I looked to see if any of the weights fell off but they didn’t. I do not like the stick on weights but he insits they are what to use. Has anyone had this happen to them due to tire inbalance???

Stick ons are fine. The trick is to make sure that the surface is clean and that you put half of the weight on each side of the "rib".

If you worry about it, get some black duct tape and tape over them. It's required for most trackdays.

If you REALLY worry about it, figure out what weight you need and go to the local dealer and get the proper clamp on weight.

I usually balance with the stick ons, then get the proper clamp weight from the dealer. I just think they look better than the stickies.

Thanks for the reply. Could my tires be so far off balance to cause the bike to shake a decent amount??
The guy who did the balance is pretty damn good at changing tires, which makes me wonder what happened. I thought that tire balancing did not have to be dead on just close. Is the front tire more likely to cause vibration more so than the rear? Thanks

Are you sure you weren't experiencing head shake or the beginnings of a tank slapper?

Tires out of balance can cause the bike to shake or wobble.

Did it start right away after you got the tires on? (first ride)?

If not, exactly what were the conditions when it wobbles. (throttle, road surface, tires up to temp, etc)
