Default sport rider article on tires

I was wondering if anyone read the review on tires in this months issue of Sport Rider, right now I use the pirrelli DC III, but after reading the article thinking about changing to the micheline pilot power 2CT, all in all both tires received great reviews, but the pros said that the edge grip fell off quickly after 4 laps on the PDCIII? I never really noticed this, than again I'm far from a pro....the thing that really stood out is that the micheline has a dual compound on the front as well as the rear, anythought, I know this has been thrown arounnd before but based on this new article wanted to see what all you micheline guys thought, should I switch? BTW, I did have the front tire wash out on me at the track (PDC3) last year, it was a cold day, tires were not warm, but you know how it is, the demons get in your mind and you cant trust your tire anymore, I was thinking maybe if I had the micheline I would have stayed up that day, and that's a big maybe......from everything Iv''e read tire warmers are not necessary on thses types of tires?

I had the 2CT's on my 954 for several trackdays. Never had a washout or lowside, managed to scrape the fairings on a few turns. Very durable and sticky (still have them on the bike).

I always took about 2 laps to warm up the tires, then felt great with them. Didn't use warmers.

You're right in that tire warmers aren't required, but they will allow you to hit the track hard immediately (no warm up on the track) and make the day one long heat cycle (which is better). Biggest problem with warmers is cost and needing electricity.

I use warmers on my Pilot Race tires as they don't have as many heat cycles in them as the 2CT street tire does.
