Default I'm new to sport riding... buying tires: HELP!!!

I own a 20071000RR and I've been down low side and I'm not confident with my stock tires which I'm not sure how much fault they had in it. More than likely I'll get a Michelin tire either thePilot Power or maybe a Michelin Power Race Supersport. Both grippy tires, any reason I shouldn't get the supersport tire? And how does it's different compounds compare to the PP?As for the size,I can't find the information I'd like on the sizing. What is the difference in tire dimention when they refer to 190 or 180? Also, /50 or /55? What dimention and purpose? From what I've gathered from other forums, 180 is thinner like maybe for a 600 vice 1000 and the 190/55 has a steeper tire, so to speak, to help lean the bike easier... vice the 190/50. Correct me if I'm wrong, I just want to get the best tire for me. Also, front tires... 110, 120 and same question about thesecondary number. Thanks guys!

The first number (180, 190) refers to the width of the tire in mm. The second number (50, 55) is the aspect ratio ...it tells you the height of the tire from the bead to the tread (basically the sidewall). So a 180/55 is 180mm wide and the AR is 55% of 180mm or 99mm. The 190/50 is 190mm wide and sidewall is 95mm.

I run the 180's ... turn in is improved and bike seems more planted in the corners. Will it prevent a low side? Depends on how you ride ...

Sorry, didn't address the pilot power question. If you ride on the track a lot or ride on the street like a lunatic (not recommending that) then by all means pay the extra bucks for a really sticky tire that will not last very long. The pilot power is a great tire that is long lastingwith plenty of stick for us non Mladin types.

I've also run the BT020's and they are long lasting. I liked the BT012SS better but the good ones die young ... maybe 3K miles.

I got 5,600 miles on a set of Pirelli Diablo Stradas, and that was riding pretty hard. Great Mileage and Awesome grip...

Haha I wish I could ride without touching the ground. Would never have to buy tires again..[sm=yeahsmile.gif]

A buddy of mine has a 1000RR and he puts new Corsa 3's on about every 2,800 but they are softer tires.

Stradas are the only thing I will put on my rims [sm=drlove.gif]

All, that's some pretty good feed back, thanks.

CHAINSTRETCHER:

What do you mean more planted in the corners?
