The 07 Sport Bike Track Time schedule is here. I'm Interested in Roebling Road, Talledega Gp, Nashville, Barber, and of course Jennings. I live in North Georgia and these are relatively close. How bout some feedback on these tracks. I'm new to trackdays and am hooked. I did Jennings Nov. 06 and loved the track. How are the ones above.

 

Barber is an awesome track, with the possible exception of Road Atlanta, is the best track in the Southeast US and definitely one of my favorite in the country

speaking of Road A, where is that on your list? its gotta be fairly close
dates are fairly limited but NESBA will have some there too

Barber is usually more expensive than the others on your list but you'll see why when you get there lol

 

I am not renewing with STT this year, I had better luck with other outfits last year that did not charge a yearly membership and were not so restrictive with passing rules although they have probably the best schedule here in the mid west.

 

November 06 at Jennings was my first track day. I enjoyed the structure that STT provided. I had been worried that i'd be in over my head but was pleasently surprised at the professionalism and organization. I think STT is only a $10 annual membership fee. I'd like to try NESBA though. Is it structured like STT? Are novice track riders seperate from intermediate and expert? I wasn't the slowest in the Novice group by any means but i don't want to have the experts zipping by meat mach speeds. I'm not out to race. I want to become a betterrider.
Road Atlanta iscertainly the closest track (about 30 minutes away). However,i figured that asmaller track like Jennings or Talladega (which were designedfor bikes) would provide abetter learning environment becauseof thelower speeds. Road A ain't made for bikes (last turn ontofront straight - concrete wall- hello)Also multi elevation, and blind turns - very technical. In the future for sure though. Or am i being a pansy?Barber would be sweet, thoughi think it would be very fast and technical and it's a little more costly.Whatcha think?

 

If you live in Gerogia then make the trip to VIR (virgina international raceway) and ride with an awsome group....CORNERSPEED...I have rode with Nesba and other groups and I have to say that Cornerspeed is the best out there. Aaron Stevenson is the cheif instructor and safety is his number one on his list. He does not mix advance riders with intermeidate riders. He puts on a great certified racing school and his instructors will help in any way. The track is awesome and the AMA rides there at the Big Kahuna race every Aug or Sep. NESBA is structured very similar to STT, same 3 groups
the only real difference is that NESBA's beginner group is a little faster (not enough to freak you out but to the point that it takes a little longer to get bumped to the next group)
They are more strict on the passing rules and who is in what group (with STT you sign up for whatever group you think your ready for, NESBA makes everyone start in Beginner and the CRs evaluate you from there)

I've always liked NESBA more than STT but there are plenty of good people with both groups

 

My problem is I am a fast novice or a slow intermediate. The stt events I have attended they would only let u pass in intermediate and and advanced, you would get stuck behind some shmuk on a bmw in the novice group and get bitched at if you passed on the straight. In the intermediate they only allowed passing on the straight which was fine for the most part. I thought the membership was $50.00 a year,,, Never checked out NESBA but heard great things. Lots of smaller track companies in the midwest just charge a flat $130 to $150 for a day, much easier to jump from track to track or from company to company.

 

man thats strange, STT trackdays in the SE let you pass in all classes, in the Novice group you can pass in the corners but only on the outside and obviously on the straights and braking areas
they're actually a lot less strict on passing rules (in the SE at least) than NESBA is
NESBA doesn't allow passing in the corners at all in novice group, and only on the outside in Intermediate

I still like the passing rules though, it forces you to get better at corner exits and braking as well as the obvious keeping people from doing stupid stuff

 

Yeah. At my STT track day in November I was of course in the Novice group. After a couple sessions we were allowed to pass in the straights or the turns (outside only). There were actually some BMW riders there but they wern't to hard to get around (even for me). when i'd get behind someone i couldn't get around or didn't feel comfortable passing, i'd just pull into "hot pit", stop at the stop sign, and then go when the coast was clear. Then i'd have the whole track to myself. I wasn't looking to race anyone, just practice what the instructors were saying and trying not to over cook a turn (I don't bounce like i used to)
I'd be fine with no passing allowed. A guy on an RC51 scared the hell out of me. Damn bike sounded great though. I'll check out the NESBA schedule. I havn't tackled the safety wireing thing though i know i should.
