Default RE: how long....?

got my first bike the middle of last summer...took me about a month to start trying...i could clutch it up in 1st and ride it out....started trying 2nd gear probably a month after that...scared the hell out of me...started getting it sitting down but still could only ride it out short distances...

then this year i decided to just go for it and learned staggared stand-ups in a couple days...working on steering them and slowing them down now...

See a couple of years ago i had a bike but only got to ride in a parking lot but i did quite often and i could power them up in first for a few yards but thats it. the bike was a r6 by the way. i just bought a 1krr 3 weeks ago and of course i want to wheelie already but i know its probably not safe so i havent even tried. i have years of experience on quads wheelieing and racing motocross so im assuming that will help a little but its way different on two wheels and a 1000

ya its different but its all the same concept...main thing is just make sure that you are completely comfortable on your bike...

I've had my bike a month and a half and I've been trying just to power them up in first, but I'm not getting the wheel up very high.
Way too chicken **** to try clutching them up yet.
I've got a 99 CBR f4, any helpful advice would be nice.

Yes there is plenty of time to learn in the future. Take your time and get to know your bike.

I agree with that a 100% especially with a 1000rr you need to be completely comfortable with every aspect of your bike before you start trying to wheelie... I had raced motocross for 8 years then I got a zx6r and I was riding wheelies the first week but it took probably 2 months of practicing before I could hit balance point and ride them for a long distance but I also had a 600 which was really a easy change from my cr250 but a 1000rr is a fast bike and you can get in trouble real quick on that thing just make sure to cover the brake..

thanks guys. i think im gonna wait till my 600mile check up thing then slowly start giving the bike enough throttle that the front comes up a little and get used to that before i try anything
