Default Help with bars and gearing

So I'm not really doing a stunt bike......more of a streetfighter/city bike. Think Hornet 600 that can handle. It will look a lot like the F4i stunt bikes so I thought I'd ask here. I bought a kit that came with the risers, MX bar and longer individual brake cables. I have the bars and risers installed but I had to drop the forks so that it would all clear. I want to get the geometry back to stock so it will handle well but It's like I need the risers to be taller so the forks are not hitting the bars. I need about another 1 and a half so the forks are up high enough in the triple trees for the stock geo.

What do you guys use for risers? Do you keep the stock geo or does the geo get more relaxed? Also, I did do a +10 on the overall gearing. What do you think 80mph will be....8000 rmp? Top speed of 130 or so?

Thanks
V

My 900rr is a streetfighter and all I did was flip my handle bars. I like it and I didn't spend any money. Johnnyh

I just saw a some interesting bars on HAI that I may try if I can't find bars with a smaller clamping section length.

Thanks for the info on the gearing. I may have to swap a stock tooth geared sprocket in the front so it's a little more highway friendly. I'll have to see once it's ready for the road.

yeah at 80MPH your prolly looking at the 7-8K RPM range. as for the bars go to the nearest machine shop (yellow pages) and tell them what you want and give them one of your existing risers to copy and you'll prolly spend $30 for them to make two longer ones. if you just go carbon steel they will possibly be cheaper. Thats what i would do.

+10 gearing is borderline a lot only bike! I just got an F4i yesterday so I'm not sure how it is on the the hondas, [it doesn't have a gauge on it], but my 01 gix 600 is up 9 in the back and down one in the front. Tops out around 100-112 if I have the wind on my side, lol. When I'm cruising in 6th at about 80mph the tach is sitting roughly around 9-10k. The bigger gearing is fun around town and for snapping the front end up but it is annoying on the highway when sometimes you would want a little more top end. If you still plan on riding it around town and high ways I would go with -1F +2-5R.

Do you mean you lowered the front of the bike so the brake lines would reach? As much as it would suck to buy parts twice after finding out they don't fit, it sounds like you need to buy longer front lines. Measure out the lines you have now and add a couple inches for your current risers. If you're looking for a place to order good custom length lines look no further than moto-madness.com, support the street fighter community!
Also if your throttle cables are coming up short I would look into seeing what other bikes in the honda lineup have cables that are interchangeable with yours. If you can't find any that cross over then you can get custom length cables made at motionpro.com. The are also good people and helped me out when I had a dirty bar setup on the gix.
