What's the redline on it? On my 1000RR I generally shift at around 5000 rpm when I'm just cruising in traffic, even though redline is 13,000 rpm.

8k is gettin pretty high for a 125 unless you're really opening her up.

i have an 08 125. to be honest it depends what gear your in. for first gear its not uncommon for me to switch at 8 or 9k. however if you really want smooth shifting and smooth acceleration i find 10 to 11 as the sweet spot. as for the rattling that's on my bike as well. its a small engine after all and it is pretty high in the revs however I've run mine redlined for about 40 minutes straight and the temp. needle still didn't break half way. its a solid little engine.
