Default Should I Convert? Is it Permanent?

I've always had a fascination with naked bikes, and as of recent I've been disassembling my bike for maintenance. I really like the concept of a street fighter on my '05 cbr, and think I would enjoy the look. Would Hiding the wires and such, as well as the headlight and speedo be a permanent conversion? Is it extremely expensive? Should I save the conversion for if/when I trash my fairings?

Sell your fairings, headlight, gauges, etc and then you have money for what you want to do. It's up to you. I'm a little biased.

That depends solely on what parts are you using, do you want to go dirtbike on the bars or keep the originals, do you shave the fixing points of the fairings off, do you have any swap meets around you where you could get a used headlight and other parts for cheap (and are you allowed to use auxiliary car lights as the main beam). Usually people go the fighter way after a crash but it's entirely up to you is it going to cost less or more, I bought a banger project and for the money Im throwing at it I could have easily gotten it in factory spec but that's not what Im looking for...

Is it permanent? Well, do you have a drill, angle grinder and a welding rig?

It doesn't HAVE to be permanent. Mattson is right though. When you're picking up a grinder, then you're making it permanent. If you want to put dirties on it and run a basic 7in round headlight and no fairings - it's not permanent. But when you start shaving the frame cutting/shortening your wiring harness, etc - it's permanent.

What did you want to do to your bike?

Not permanent

A little more permanent

(Even that though ^ - it wouldn't take too much to get that back to stock)

Oh, and did you ever figure out what happened with those wires that were cut off at the plug?

hi, I would say an 05 bike clean and tidy is probably worth more than a home made street fighter. There are plenty of cheap runners about to play with and chop up and you will still have your bike on the road, with regards to the wiring I have just finished building my f3 street fighter and it required a full rewire £350
as most gizmo's are stuck on the outside of the frame and lights and speedo
are housed in the fairing. new clock, lights and fitting's £250
Good luck with what you decide. se25steve

Take the tank off and re- route and tuck the wires. If you are plaaning to do any swaps make sure you do your research and have the know how to fabricate if need be. From the start of my f3 street fighter build, nothing goes according to plan or as easily as first thought!

Ouch, what happened? Wrecking is as good as any other excuse. It sounds like you're okay, hope it's the case! Put up some pics, tell us what your ideas/plans are
