boots may not have saved his leg... but would have held the pieces together a little better than his sock is right now. I don't wear boots, yet... still buying gear, but when I ran moto-x.... the type of boots I wore would have protected the leg from breaking. Are the boots associated with sportbikes not rigid enough to protect? The ones I have looked at look like they would.

Wanna gamble? I`ve the alpinestars smx2 boots the one with all the lorica round the ankle, i know i`d rather have em on than the pathetic little things he had on his dangly snapped ankle.

 

I got the Alpine Stars also -- maybe he'd have sustained a pressure fracture but no way would good boots allow the ankle to shear like that. And as we all know, when something's broken it hurts a lot less (millions of times less) if it's immobile and not dangling in the wind.

DAMN! Alright, so now I'm going to look into getting boots. Just wondering though, would getting boots basically be the same thing as getting a really stiff ankle brace? Could I just wear that underneathe my sneakers or are the bike boots made of even stiffer material?

 

Ever since my accident I wear boots. I was wearing sneakers that day and I scratched up my ankles besides other things and what not. I've actually seen that video before...and your right fretless, his ankle will probably not be the same after surgery.
