RE: Textbook Squid
A squid is someone who rides outside of their abilities. Making it dangerous to themselves and everyone around. It is clear this person just made a mistake and the person with the camera was just at the right place at the right time. But this is no excuse for such a disregard for one's protection. I am guessing he was only wearing the helmet because it was the law.
If you choose to ride without full gear or partial gear is one thing. That is a personal choice, but to be riding practically naked is another.
There is no way you wouldfind me riding with someone like this, I would change routes or go home. Accidents happen and there is no way I would want to be one of the friends helping this idiot out after he goes down.
If you choose to ride without the gear, more power to you. Just keep in mind, your always in the public's eye.
Dont get pissed off if someone single's you out due to your lack of gear.

I think people are too quick to call squids when people are just beginning. A squid to me is an idiot rider not a beginner and you can tell he is a beginner because he let out on the clutch while he was in gear.
