In fact, they always tell me to ride my own ride...famous last words, eh? I have another couple of friends that ride slower. I like them better. I have the same thing when I ride. I am usually at the back of the pack. It does not matter to me, cause I know where we are all meeting for coffee so I will get there eventually. Ride within yourself and with time you will get better. When your on the machine it is so hard to keep the ego in check, cause you want to be better than the guy in front of you.
