ORIGINAL: petrorr

I guess I like dragonfoce cause the solos are like two guitars sounding off in a raw yet kinda melodic way and comming together here and there, Herman Li has some skills though.
Ive got some Yngwie on my Zune and I like some of his music, never really got into it, maybe I gotta listen to it more,McAlpineis great too, ive got some of that,Ive got all of Satrianis albums and I dig a lot of his music, especially I Believe, that tune tends to make me think about life, where im going and where ive been. are you familliar with Buckethead?

Before I quit playng a year ago...again...I had a buddy I let share some server space with who loved Buckethead.

I can get into his stuff...some of it....I like his new-ness. His approach.

The other stuff...even by Satch, or dare I fuGGIN say SRV...

Blues, pentatonic based rock...I can't stand it. They all sound the same.

It sounds like about 1 million bars I used to spend time in...they all sound the same.

Same riffs, sam chords and scales...and of course themes.

I used to jam with the house band and if the guitar player was a jerk, and I had been playing a bit...I'd make him look pedestrian.

Leave and find the nearest bar with a good juke.

Malmsteen is an arrogant ****, but he's also a legend...without him...everything in Rock might still be blues based, whole tone, half-tone stuff. A, D, G, E chords,...1 and 2 and 1 and 2...etc. etc. Bleh!

You should try some Testament...Savatage...

Cool talking with ya though.

The last one has Gothic Octave which is really a kind pf two fingered hammer on version of the chromatic scale, if you were to not stretch but play down the neck as you played up the strings.

After that though, is an amazing "Major" scale.

Major is known for being happy and upbeat,,,but not this.

This is tragic, painful, scary, powerul stuff.

If you watch th last vid...

What makes the "major" scale scary...is that the first 6 tones leave the scale unresolved. Creates tension, unease.

Anyway, enough music..led me astray for many years...was an evil lure and tool for me.

Randy Rhoads is the sh*t but my favorite are Kirk Hammet from Metallica, Dimebag Darrell of Pantera, and Zakk Wylde of Black Label Society and Ozzy.

Post your video of you doing it better before you bash anything.

If you wanna hear awesome guitar work, listen to almost any song on Parkway Drive's HORIZONS, or anything on Bring Me the Horizon's COUNT YOUR BLESSINGS.

Or lots of stuff by Between the Buried and Me, that guy can kill some sweeps. And does pretty blues stuff too.

Oh and for amazing collaborative math-metal, listen to Misery Signals.
