Im not tryin to be a dick.. But why does everyone generalize truck drivers? Actually I could easily argue why trucks and cars should have the same speed limits.. Im a truck driver, and most all of us slow down when we see emergency vehicles on the side of the road!!Also it was later found out he was only doin 38 mph. SO he wasnt speeding.. Granted the roads were slick/slightly icy, but he was obeying the law.. (By the way this happened locally)..

This is a perfect example of A. Truck drivers should drive MUCH slower than the rest of the traffic by law, and B. When people see "flashing lights" ahead, it usually means slow the f**k down.

At least all of us know "FedEx" is going to get their asses SUED!
x2...

Truck drivers these days don't take care of their equipment...(mostly illegals who are truckers...know what I mean)...tires fly to bits all over the road leaving huge chunks of rubber...and then you have the worst of the worst in this case...

i dont know that i agree with this. I dont think a multinational corporation would ill maintain their rigs to the point of them being dangerous or higher illegals...

You guys do realize that there was a stalled vehicle in the fast lane on the left side due to a previous car wreck... The road conditions were icy. Not really hard to make a heavy two box trailer to loose control. One thing is that if that truck had full weight on it, it would have done more damage then that. I've seen cars pancake when hit like that with 50-60k+ lbs worth of crap they hauling.

And in all honestly, truck drives are probably the most safe large group of drivers on the road. There's a lot of new tech equipment on trucks now so its a lot safer for cargo and for drivers. One new piece of technology is where an image sensor is placed on top of the cabin and detects the white lines in the road. If the truck driver starts to vier to one side or the other very slowly with no turn-signal on, the system sounds an alarm to the driver. This smart technology works in any weather condition. It's not main stream yet, but you'd be surprised how many trucks have this new system installed. Not to mention GPS' are pretty much industry standard now.
