From what I've read it's a GPS treasure hunt.
What I can't tell is if they are only the small gadgets,
or if anything can be marked as a geocache.
There are supposedly a few around my area but not sure
what I'm looking for.

geocaching is a gps 'treasure hunt'
there is a website that you can get coordinates from and hints. theres also apps you can get for it. but a geocache can be anything really. 55 gal drum to a little film canister. the objective is to find the cache, sign the little paper inside stating your name and date you found it. and if the cache is large enough, it will have various items in it. if you take something you must leave something. then you put the cache back where you found it.
