Sorry to hear about your crash. I hate to see threads like this for one reason, the cars is always at afault. Lane splitting comes with risk. It isn't automatically the cagers fault whenever something happens, and splitting lanes is not a sure thing. Looking at those pics that truck driver had no reason to believe another vehicle was occupying that space, like it or not. I split lanes daily, and know the risks involved.

Lane splitting is legal in a lot of places, but unfortunately most non riders dont know that and definately don't think to watch out for it.

In California Only, lane splitting is legal. Motorcycles may drive between cars, but not on shoulders.
"Lane Sharing" is legal in many states, but not lane splitting.
I apologize for the misrepresentation and generalization. I did not check facts first, i thought it was legal in a lot of other countries, and a couple of states so i made a vague referance since i know we havea lot of overseas riders hear as well. I apologize for my error, and thanks for the correction without being an *** about it

Thats why I ride with titanium knuckle gloves and a lot of cars in Orange County are missing side view mirrors.
