I think it's a really good idea. Will certainly save lives or serious neck/head injuries when impacting head on like the vids. If sportbikes had them as an option for $500 more, I'd get one without a doubt. I'd also bet that within 10 years time, DOT will mandate them on ALL bikes, much like ABS and airbags in cars 10 years ago. Even if you were to fly over a car or whatever, if you hit the airbag and it slowed your body's speed by 50%, you'd be better off for sure.
One company has designed a textile touring type jacket that inflates a large horeshoe shaped airbag around your neck. I don't remember who it is, or even if it's out on the market yet, but it's similar to the boating life vests that you tie a cord to the boat/jetski and if you fall overboard the cord is pulled like a grenade pin and it inflates.

 

Honda is always leading edge. I think it's great and as it evolves, will only get better.
