Every harley rider I have talked to at a gas station and what not has been cool to me. Sometimes they don't wave, but then again sometimes other sport bikes don't wave.
I'm definitely a huge sport bike fan, and do not see myself on harley anytime soon...but who knows, when I'm 50..might be nice to sit back for a change :P
Don't hate on harleys

Finally, I found a thread where I can tell my little story! lol. Anyways, a couple weeks ago I was on the 750 on my way home from work. I'm going with the flow of traffic, look in my rear view mirror and see a harley closing in on my fast (well not fast but as fast as you can get for a harley, you know what I mean lol). He insists on riding my *** for whatever reason. The reason probably being he automatically feels threatened just by my presence considering he has a inferior bike in every possible way. Anyways the car in front of me puts their turn signal on so I look over my shoulder, see no cars and change lanes. After I change lanes I see his right on my *** in the other lane. I get to a stop light and once I accelerate, he starts swerving super close to me trying to intimidate me. At this point, I'm rather pissed. So once we hit the second light a decide to stop along side him and find out what his problem is. I stop next to him, look over and nod.
Right away I saw that the dude went into defense mode just from me having the ***** to acknowledge his presence. I guess his loud music and rebel looking biker clothes mean dont talk to me I'm too bad *** for you? Anyways, he says something and I yell back "Can't hear you, your awesome biker speaker system is bumpin too loud!" He yells back, "Why the **** you cut me off?!" I'm guessing that when I switched lanes and he was riding my *** he thought I cut him off? Maybe he turned a half second before I did, either way I looked over my shoulder and didn't see anything and he shouldn't have been riding my ***. I say back, "didn't realize I cut you off, maybe next time you shouldn't ride my *** and **** like that will be less likely to happen. He responds back, "your ****ing stupid", literally sounding like a 9 year old at this point. I
It was obvious he was at a loss of words so started resorting to immature personal insults. At this point we're in the worse rush hour traffic I've been a part of, so I have to sit and listen to him go on and on with personal insults, me for the most part just smiling and ignoring. Once I heard him say, "you got a girls bike", I couldn't help but respond though. I turn to him and, "oh is that right? How about we race once this traffic clears up?" He denied the offer and started giving me a story of his gixxer 1000 and camaro that blow my sock off like I'm standing still. I just laugh and say in a sarcasic voice, "ohh really?" Thinking in my had that even a current stock 1000cc will hardley "blow my socks off" with the gearing and mods done to the bike. He starts freaking out and yelling at me to come to his house and he'll show me. Thinkning in my head theres no way I'm going to this nut jobs house. Long storty short (haha, maybe the other way around) I get enough of him and just ride in between traffic as cautiously as possible to get away from him. I'm not saying all of them are like this, but I am saying that a lot of them have built up anger that results from them feeling intimidated by a superior bike on the road. End rant lol.

in general i dont have a problem with harley riders. i just dislike the ones that follow the stereotypes. and where i live i get more waves from harley/cruiser riders than other sport bike riders. but would i ever been seen on a harley? not a chance, dont care for the looks or riding position, and for a price of one id much rather get a ducati or mv agusta
There are a lot of Harley and cruiser bike riders around here.
Most of em wave at me, but I'm not sure if they're being nice
or waving because the front of my bike having no fairings and
aftermarket headlights looks like a cruiser. lol
There was a guy that pulled up beside me on a Buell that was so badass.
He said he used to ride a harley, traded it for gixxer, then for the buell.
He was an older gentleman too, I'm thinking 50+.
We got to talkin and he asked if mine will raise up...lol Idk
I've never been able to do one yet, I don't know how either.
previous owner said it's hard to raise cause fronts been lowered.
Anyway, this old dude asked if any cops were around. We looked, nope
and light turned green. He done a sweet wheelie, a good 30-40 ft atleast!
I have been cut off by 2 different guys, both on Harleys.
A lot of riders around here haven't taken the safety course, plus don't have
licenses.
Also, there are times when I don't see the other motorcyclist fast enough
to wave. Maybe a car was blocking them, or I'm looking somewhere else.
So I don't always take it bad if other guys don't wave. He might be a new
rider and don't feel safe taking their hand off.

buddy of mine has an 883 sportster thats "been built to 1200" and him and I were going back and forth, the general consensus was that he would like to ride with me sometime if i keep it under 115 because he cant go faster than that.
But every long ride I've ever been on the sportbikers backs and wrists hurt but the harley guys are broke down a couple dozen miles behind

It's funny to read all these comments about this type or that type of biker... Honestly it comes down to the type of person and not what they ride. In my experience I find people who have a passion for bikes don't care what you're riding. They care more that you share a love of motorcycles. It seems to me that it's the people who have never ridden anything but a Harley (or a sportbike for that matter) that have the bad attitudes. And there are as many newb sportbike riders out there as there are Harley riders that start riding bikes only in their later years (possibly as a midlife crisis thing). Only thing I can say is if someone on a Hog is giving you flak about your sportbike. Tell them to watch the Isle of Man TT race. Those guys are the definition of badass. If you think you're tough, get your *** to the Isle of Man.
when i was getting my motorcycle licence a couple years ago. a guy call my ninja 250 a ***** bike and said he was buying a 20000 harley. the shop owner drove down a buel for him to take the test on. he stalled it every single time hahaha. worse yet he couldn't get it started becuase the kickstand was down and then again because he flipped the killswitch. xD
Well, I own two Harleys besides the 2006 CBR. I have always like sportbikes AND Harleys. Either you get it or don't. Harleys have come a long ways and they are easier to ride slower on than sportbikes. Unfortunately both types attract their share of idiots but they are in the minority. Before you badmouth a Harley, try one at a demo event. You might get it.
