Skyline Drive/Blue Ridge Parkway
This weekend I plan on riding Skyline Drive and Blue Ridge parkway for the first time. I know it is short notice, but if anyone wants to join please PM me so I get an email. If I get some good pictures I will put them in sights n' sounds.
I will also be in VA until the first week in April and will most likely want to get out and ride this road again, so if anyone wants to join it doesn't have to be this weekend.

I pedaled the entire length of the Blue Ridge Parkway and Skyline drive back in 1997. I loved the 'no commercial vehicles' rule and the 45 mph speed limit for cars. A great route, although many of the scenic overlooks were not so scenic due to fog. I think that's why they call it Blue Ridge.

Scratch that. I got to the entrance to Skyline Dr. (Shenandoah Nat'l park) and there was so much gravel on the ramp I thought I might bite it right there. I asked the nice lady at the pay booth if the whole road was covered in tiny stones, and she said most likely. They put that **** down for traction when it snows.
Anywho, I will be going back when the road surface is cleared off. But, Highway 33 which I took to get to Skyline Dr. was awesome! Going up the mountain, its two lanes, and sharp curves for some good leans. The second lane is a great thing to have in case you misjudge and go just a bit too fast. I might go back tomorrow because I liked it so much!
I attached a pic from Hwy 33. A nice biker guy (non-sport) stopped to ask if everything was alright when I was off my bike. Bikers are cool people, never had any idea 'til I bought one.
Again, if anyone wants to join just shoot me a PM.

The entire Parkway has a 45 mph speed limit, some congested areas are even lower.
