Riding from SF to Santa Barbara (250+ miles)

Riding from SF to Santa Barbara (250+ miles)
Hey there guys!
I'm picking up my first F4i and need to commute back to Santa Barbara, however I'm some what intimidated by the long ride and winds. My longest ride one way is about 138 miles and that just kicked my ***. Riding with my buddies I've done over 250 miles in a day, but its so much stopping and quick riding that it flys by.
My old bike was an EX-500 and the wind played a critical role in my comfort. The f4i is obviously a bigger bike in many respects, but I'm still trying to figure a way out to mitigate these potential issues, especially with consideration to those High Way 101 winds.
Any advice for a noob riding down to SB from SF would be AWESOME!
