Where the Phó are we? The 'Bear's Vietnam Redux 2013
Boy am I glad we piked on the ride to Hue today.
The downpour started during the night and has successively alternated between deluge, heavy rain and positive waterfall!
Noah Nguyen was seen collecting cubits of wood for his Ark.
We went for a walk with umbrellas and posted some cards, got some vitamin C, bought a silk needlework thingy which we will have to post to Australia, had some hot drinks, bought some new books to read and returned, sodden to the marrow, to the Hotel to hibernate for the afternoon.
Mrs SB has now booked a Spa afternoon for 2.5 hours to be beaten, soaked, pedicured, manicured and waxed mercilessly for $40 USD.
I'll read........
Cheers, The Travelling 'Bears

Raining, pouring, deluging, excessive precipitation, drowning, soaking, bucketing down, inundation, a cataract, cascading, tempest, monsoonal……………not dry.
In fact, very, very wet.
Some pictures from our walk.

Some colour amidst the drear

Umbrellas and full body condoms were the order of the day.

But what of the Department of Collecting and Managing Cow Dung??

More rain and………………

You guessed it………….yet more rain.
I think we’ll be dining in the Hotel Restaurant tonight.
Cheers, The Travelling ‘Bears.

Not much of a spa person eh? Think a nice mani and and a pedi would do wonders to those bear claws
not to mention a mud mask for the bee stung nose? How's it btw? Must have smarted in the morning...
Very nice pics, at first glance I thought that silk tiger was a 3d diorama of some kind. Pretty interesting working positions on those carpenters, wonder what happens if that chisel slips...
Gotta take a cold one myself and kick back watching those ride vids when I get home from work today.

Another Fantastic Voyage SB. The pictures are so so great! I so wish I could ride along. Thank you so much for sharing all this. It wets the appetite for travel to far away lands. I only get a glimpse of places when traveling for work and hope to get your kind of experience when it's on my time...minus the rain.
Thanks Guys, although the adventure looks to become VERY real this morning.
Last year I took a picture of these little beauties in Hoi An...............I'm now wishing I bought them.

The room 'phone rang at 5.30 AM with the staff urgently requesting our motorcycle keys.
Because of this..............

Apparently it's waist deep at the other end of town.

Looking toward the Old Quarter

And toward the gates to our Hotel
When we booked in we were offered an upstairs room and declined.........
Oh! The folly of our decision.
Cheers, SB

^^^^ Correct Michelle - well done!
Well after being off the air all yesterday due to the flooding in Hoi An, the rain lessened a little today and we rode the 130 odd (very odd) kilometres to Hue.

We were boated out of our hotel for lunch yesterday.
Now that was fun. Then to top it all off, both of our chargers were plugged in overnight and at 3 AM there was a 'flash-bang' in our room, and a strong smell of melted electrickery as both of our chargers simultaneously exploded due to a lightning strike. The hotel to their eternal credit found new chargers for Mrs SB's iPhone and my computer within an hour of being informed. Just fantastic service. The fun continued as globes randomly popped in our room for the rest of the night.
The ride to Hue, of course, included a crossing of the acclaimed Hai Van pass - which was still fun in the wet. Just into the hotel and thawing out so report later.
Cheers, SB
