Default Can someone explain the difference

Hey all, been really reading and watching all the coverage I can get in Motorcycle racing, but I'm still confused as to the different classes, supersport, superstock, grang prix, ama supersport, superbike, moto GP yadda yadda yadda. Can someone break it down for a fella, like what the difference is in the classes and the bikes that run in them. You don't have to type out a huge tech article or anything, but just wondering is all. Thanks.

in AMA racing you have 4 classes Superbike, Superstock, Supersport, and FX all of which are production motorcycles that you can buy in a dealership

Superbikes are 1000cc bikes that are highly modified to go really f'in fast
Superstock bikes are 1000s with less modifications than Superbike
FX bikes are 600s that are highly modified
Supersport bikes are 600s with less modifications than Supersport

World Superbikes are similar to AMA Superbikes but with a few different rules
World Supersport runs with WSBK and has similar rules to AMA FX series

MotoGP is THE World Championship, starting this year they will be running 800cc bikes, cut back from 990cc in an already failed attempt to slow the bikes down
MotoGP bikes are (per the rules) non production motorcycles, meaning they start from scratch and are not allowed to use any part that can be traced to a production bike
This allows the engineers to go wild making the fastest bikes in the world

The 125 and 250 GP classes run along with MotoGP (except for the USGP), small lightweight 2-strokes

That's bull****. You pay all that money for Leguna and it's only one race. God I hate Nascar.

World Superbikes are similar to AMA Superbikes but with a few different small rules (for example AMA will not allow the Ducati 1098 but WSBK will)
Not this year in WSBK they won't.... but next year most likely. But World SuperStock has anouced that it will allowed the 1098.

I was just wondering about the World Supersportand the World Stock 600 class. I wasn't aware that WSS was like AMA-FX. I thought it was more like AMA-SS class. Thanks for clearing that up.
