I drove a pickup 19hrs to retrieve the CBR. The other bikes were all ridden home. (even a couple of dirtbikes...lol)
The funny part about the CBR trip was that I had no way to get it back off the truck.
The KLR got it's very first 80miles in pouring down rain on the interstate. It was like 40 degrees, too, and I had no rain gear.

I picked up a Ninja 500 last summer as my first bike which was about 120 miles away from me. My wife and I drove down and the lady asked how I was going to get it home seeing as how I just got my license the day before. I said, "Ummm ride it home?" I drove it up and down the road and came back and handed her cash and was on my way. I had never ridden before other than the MSF course, which you dont really go over 25mph. I was nervous but all of that went away when I got up to speed on the highway. Everything seemed to make sense from the MSF course with a little speed applied. It was an awesome ride home until I came wide off the exit and almost sideswiped a truck. 2 months later, the Ninja seemed too small and light for me and I sold it for $1000 more than I paid for it and bought my 01 F4i. Rode that one home about 80 or so miles.

Default Any excuse for a road trip.

In 2005 my wife started nudging me to get a motorcycle. She claimed she'd be happy riding on the back. I had ridden when I was in my 20's but hadn't been on a bike in about 18 years. I found one in Minneapolis, MN, a 1994 CBR 1000F with 10K miles on it on ebay. I flew up on Friday September 23, 2005 while Hurricane Rita was spinning off the coast of Texas (flight almost canceled). I rode the bike home 1,750 miles, arriving Sunday the 25th at around 4 in the afternoon. I didn't hit any rain on the entire trip. The wife was a nervous wreck while I was gone. My wife got her license 2 months later which prompted another trip, Bristol, TN.

I've subsequently purchased 4 more bikes off ebay and rode each of them home.

Location Distance in Miles
Minneapolis, MN 1750
Bristol, TN 850
Milwaukee, WI 1450
Syracuse, NY 1400
West Palm Beach, FL 45

I like the way you think, man. I like getting things off craigslist because they allow me to drive somewhere and meet a new person, even if it's for 5 minutes.

I would love to buy a bike off ebay and fly out to get it and ride back. That would be so awesome!

i first started riding 1 month ago...took the msf course and everything. the next week, i met a dude off craigslist to purchase his gs500f. since i never rode on the highway, i asked him to drop it off at my place. he did...cool beans.
i had that bike for all of 3 weeks before getting bored with it. sold it and purchased a f4i...i met the person at their house and rode it home. 50 mile ride....surely popped my sportbike cherry.

My first bike I bought in Manhattan. My buddy took it on a test ride since I was afraid i was going to drop it. We trailered that one home. My CBR I picked up in the Bronx. I took it for a test ride that time, but we still loaded it in a pick up for the ride home since it was raining. One day I'll actually ride one home.

got the loan and cashed the check today! hopefully I'll be going to pick up my 06 CBR600RR tomorrow. Given it's not raining like crazy bc of all these damn storms lately! its only about 7 minutes away so its not too big of a deal. The bike is in great condition and the owner/friend took it on about a 6 hour drive last weekend so I know its good to go!

When I bought my F4i the old owner rode it about 50 miles to my house and dropped it off. That was my first bike and at that time I didnt have a permit, M license or had yet taken the MSF. I have since then did all three. My second bike (the R1) I got it off of craigslist and went to go pick it up about 15 miles up the beltway. I test rode it did the paperwork and then rode it back home.

I bought both bikes out of state. My supermoto wasn't good enough on the high way (top speed:90. The bike started sweating around 65). The cbr would have been fine but I still put her in the truck.
